I send my deepest sympathy to Jackie’s girls … Kim, Lisa, and Jennifer, and to their families. We spent many hours talking about your times together. Jackie loved you with all her heart. She looked forward to having you all at her house for dinner, for Christmas breakfast, or attending a program, graduation, or birthday party with you or the grandchildren. She was so proud of all of her smart grandchildren and loved seeing them. I once remarked to her that I wish I could be the kind of grandmother she was. She excelled in that role.
Jackie and I became close friends from the moment we met at a meeting about 25 years ago. We shared many happy times, and we would often meet after work for dinner, a movie, or to go shopping. She was a willing partner on adventures such as our thrilling white-water rafting trip a few years ago and a vacation to Helen, Georgia, where we spent hours combing through shops and garden centers, as well as a few good restaurants. The Christmas Show was an absolute favorite, and we would walk for hours so we could see the new decorations and try to copy them at home. One year we bought so many gifts that we had to buy a shopping cart to tow them around!
Most enjoyable was time spent just sitting and talking. No matter what was going on in my life, I could always count on Jackie. She was a very smart, kind, loving, and supportive person. She never hesitated to tell a person how special they were. She enjoyed all sorts of hobbies and crafts from crocheting to tole painting and loved making items for her family, and she treasured items that were given to her. Jackie also was very independent, practical, polished, and truly courageous.
No words can express the sorrow I feel at losing my best friend, Jacqueline Ballard.
Jackie, I pray that you are resting with the angels, for I know your place is well-deserved.
Love,
Doris (Massey) Zeman
