    Anna Therrell

    February 18, 1943 - October 25, 2021

On Monday, October 25, 2021, Anna Therrell, loving mother, grandmother, wife, and sister passed away at age 78. Anna was born in February 1943, to Mark and Ferry Tinkham. She received a master’s degree in education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and taught public school in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system for more than 30 years. On June 4, 1964, Anna married Wayne Therrell. They raised two children, Lane and Mark. Anna had many talents and interests including quilting, birdwatching, creative writing, gardening, hiking and all forms of art. Her unique applique quilts incorporating found objects are works of art greatly admired by friends and family. She was also a collector of antique pottery and Americana. She enjoyed exploring nature, whether walking on the local greenbelt, collecting shells on the Carolina coast, or hiking on rugged trails in the Appalachian Mountains or anywhere else adventure might take her. Anna was always keen to observe the natural environment and share what she found with others. She especially enjoyed showing her granddaughters the beauty of nature anywhere they traveled together. Anna was known for her kindness and compassion, always ready to lend a helping hand to others in the community. She was known for her happy smile, warm sense of humor and meaningful down-to-earth Sunday school lessons for the Double Ring class at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Anna is survived by her husband, Wayne, her children, Lane and Mark, her granddaughters, Adah and Ruby, and her brothers, Spencer and Robert. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 30, 11:00 AM at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Charlotte with the interment following at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. There will be a visitation the night before on Friday, October 29, from 5:00-7:00 PM at James Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 1915 Oakdale Road, Charlotte, NC, 28216. James Funeral Home, of Huntersville, is serving the family and obituary lovingly written by the family.
