Billy Neal Smith

August 14, 1961 - March 26, 2022

Billy Neal Smith, 60 , of Huntersville went home to the Lord on Saturday, March 26, 2022. Billy was born in Raleigh, N.C. but moved to Charlotte when he was two years old. He loved the Lord and was a faithful and humble man. He was a member of Vineyard Church. Prior to that he was a long time member of Lake Haven Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and worked with the youth. For many years his ministry on the weekends was visiting various nursing homes in the area offering a listening ear, a compassionate heart, and always an offered prayer or sharing of the Gospel message for those he visited. He had just retired from Woodtech where he was a master cabinet maker and a highly skilled wood working artisan. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Debbie Smith and by his father, Vellie Smith. Billy is survived by his mother, Rachel Smith Barton of Charlotte; son; Jacob Smith and his wife Trisha of Charlotte; step children, Debbie Blayton of Iron Station, Junior Blayton of Dallas, N.C.; grandchildren; Katelyn, Bailey, Leah, Nikki, Austin, Raleigh, Collin; brothers Alan Smith of Matthews, Steve Smith of Charlotte; sister Pam Smith of Raleigh and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am Thursday , March 31 at James Funeral Home of Huntersville. Visitation will be at 10:00am, one hour prior to the service.
