    Carol Deitz

    November 11, 1934 - January 23, 2022

Carol Evangeline (Williams) Deitz, age 87, of Huntersville, NC, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2022 surrounded by people who deeply loved her- her husband and close family. She was born the youngest of four children in Port Clinton, Ohio to Bertrice and Carlyle Williams. After graduating from Port Clinton High School in 1952, Carol relocated to Columbus, Ohio to attend the Ohio State University. She met her future husband, Harry Deitz, Jr., at a gathering of sports car enthusiasts (a hobby they both shared) and married in 1961. They were deeply devoted to each other and remained married up until the time of her death. Most of their married life Carol and Harry lived in Fairfax,VA. There they raised three children, along with a niece that they took into their home and family when she was just nine. They loved their years in Fairfax, and were especially close to their community of friends from Truro Episcopal Church, a church they attended for many years. Carol was a very compassionate woman, using her love of crocheting to start a ministry at the church to provide warm outfits to needy Ugandan newborns overseas. In addition to knitting/crocheting, she enjoyed gardening, European history, and Vietnamese food. Her greatest love though was reserved for her husband, her children, and her grandchildren - especially her youngest daughter, Alane, whom she loved, nurtured and cared for throughout her life as long as she was physically able to do so. Carol is survived by her husband, Harry Deitz, Jr. of Huntersville, NC; her children Laurie (Terry), Harry, and Alane; her niece Tammy (Mark); her grandchildren Jennifer (Steve), David, Julieanne (Dennis), Katherine (Daniel), Derek, Erica (Sam), Ryan (Jill) and Michelle (Eric); and great-grandchildren Aurelia, Marielle, Reinhardt, Hank, Luca and Jude. She is preceded in death by her father Carlyle Williams, mother Bertrice Williams, brother James (Nancy), sister Marilyn (Bill), and brother Glen. Visiting hours are scheduled for Saturday, January 29, 2:00-3:00 pm, at the James Funeral Home (10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078). Funeral services will take place at 3:00 pm at this same location. A graveside service will be held at Northlake Garden Cemetary (11001 Alexanderana Road, Huntersville, NC 28078) at the conclusion of the funeral service. All services to be officiated by Pastor Paul Turbedsky of Grace Covenant church. James Funeral Home is serving the family.
