    Cecilia Yahner

    September 13, 1930 - October 27, 2021

Cecilia T. Yahner, 91, died on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, Charlotte, NC. Born on September 13, 1930 in Hastings, PA, she was the daughter of Andrew Bachleda and Victoria (Gambala) Bachleda Finet. Ceil was proud to have been one of eight children in a hard-working Polish immigrant family. Cecilia was a resident of Ranson Ridge Assisted Living & Memory Care in Huntersville, NC for the past few years. Most of her life was spent in Johnstown, PA where she and her husband, Gerald J Yahner, raised their family. Married for almost 55 years, Ceil was a busy homemaker. She enjoyed time with her family and was an excellent cook and baker. The Yahner family belonged to St. Benedict’s parish in Johnstown for many years. In her later life, Cecilia did some quilting and regularly participated in walking groups in Johnstown area malls. Cecilia was preceded in death by her husband Gerald (2006); her parents and step-father George Finet Sr; brothers John Bachleda, Frank Bachleda, and Andrew (Theresa) Bachleda of Niagara Falls, NY; sisters Rose (Bill) Harvie and Helen (Pete) Shevock, Niagara Falls, NY. Cecilia is survived by her four children, Barbara (Larry) Neary, Harrisburg, PA; Janet (Mike) Kiernan, Huntersville, NC; Mark Yahner, Frederick, MD; and Sharon Yahner, Jonestown, PA. Cecilia was the proud grandmother of five: Kevin (Keli) Neary, Harrisburg, PA; Laura Kiernan, Huntersville, NC; Jill (Adam) Neary Weikert, Harrisburg, PA; Michael Kiernan, Charlotte, NC; Sara Lizambri, San Diego, CA. She also leaves behind four great-granddaughters: Claire and Jane Weikert; Rhiannon and Bridget Neary. Although the youngest, Cecilia has two remaining siblings: 100 year old Walter (Alice) Bachleda, San Antonio, TX; 98 year old Martha (William) Gazy, Wheatfield, NY. Her survivors also include numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. A funeral mass for Ceil will take place Wednesday, 11/03 at 3:00 PM at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Huntersville. Visitation will precede the mass by one hour. Cecilia’s final resting place will be with Gerald in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Hastings, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to support the Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011; online: alz.org/donate James Funeral Home, of Huntersville, is serving the family and obituary lovingly written by the family.
