June 15, 1935 - May 8, 2022
A Life Richly Blessed He was born on June 15, 1935, the first of five children of the late C.B. and Janelle Gouch. Chuck’s smile became his trademark. When he entered a room, the whole place lit up. His easy, fun-loving way of accepting people and bringing joy to every encounter made him much-loved by all who knew him. His eyes would emit a mischievous twinkle when he pulled a funny prank or made a witty remark. He immensely enjoyed making people laugh. He is survived by his wife Elaine of 4-1/2 years and his children: Charles Bernard Gouch, III (Mary) of Norfolk, VA; William Allen Gouch of Concord, NC; Paul Eric Gouch (Sharon) of Mineral Springs, NC; Alice Crowe (Scott) of Cartersville, GA; step-daughter, Kellie Jordan (Jeff) of Rockwell, NC; step-son, Jim Miller (Cindy) of Charlotte, NC; and his five grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. His surviving siblings are Harvey Gouch (Nell), John Gouch (Betty) and Martha Hartley Lawrie (Peter). After graduating from Bob Jones, Greenville, SC in 1955, during which time he came to know the Lord, he served in the Air Force for over five years. Chuck loved to be on the open road and trucked for 39 years. He operated a trucking terminal in Pomona, CA for a few years as well. After retirement, he owned and operated Oak Grove Mobile Home Park in Charlotte. Years after Chuck’s salvation, he and his family went to Israel and he was baptized in the River Jordan. Some of his favorite activities were traveling in his Airstream, camping, riding his motorcycle, and listening to gospel music, especially quartets. His was a life richly blessed. “A faithful man shall abound with blessings.” Proverbs 28:20 “…This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10 “My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 A graveside service will be held at 11 am Saturday, May 14 at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
