    Christine Hancock

    May 11, 1969 - December 21, 2021

Christine Tarasovis Hancock, 52, of Charlotte, NC, died December 21, 2021. She was a devoted wife to husband, Phillip, a loving mother to daughters, Claire and Lauren, and the daughter of Vincent Tarasovis of Staten Island, NY, and the late Mary Tarasovis. Christine grew up in Staten Island, NY and cherished her childhood friendships. She had a love for ballet while growing up, and later she graduated from Fordham University in NY, where she earned a degree in Economics. Christine began her career at CS First Boston and later moved to Deutsche Bank where she met her husband-to-be, Phillip. Her desire to help people led her back to school to become a Physician Assistant. Christine went into private practice in Fairfax, VA, and eventually moved to Charlotte, where she served for over 10 years as the school nurse for her daughters’ school, Mountain Island Charter School. She loved the staff at MICS and adored the children she cared for each day. Above all, Christine treasured being a mother to Lauren and Claire. She was so proud of her girls and was always interested in and supportive of all their pursuits. She and Phillip have raised them to be independent, capable, kind, and caring young ladies. Christine was bright, witty, affectionate, and fiercely loyal. She cared deeply for her family and friends and was always eager to demonstrate her love for them. She loved us all well. Christine is survived by her husband, Phillip, and daughters Lauren and Claire of the home; her father Vincent Tarasovis of Staten Island, NY; mother-in-law Ann Hancock of Lenoir, NC; brothers and sisters-in-law David and Emily Hancock of Raleigh, NC and Peter and Heather Hancock of Hickory, NC. She was an engaging and nurturing aunt to her nieces and nephews: Harper, Hollis, Lillian and George. She was predeceased by her mother, Mary Tarasovis, her Aunt Agnes Tarasovis, and her father-in-law, Dr. George Hancock. We are devastated by the loss of Christine but are incredibly grateful to God for giving her to us. We are thankful for the positive impact she had upon this world. Christine will always be loved, cherished, remembered, and deeply missed. The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC on December 27 from 6-8 pm. The funeral will be held at Assurance United Methodist Church in Huntersville on December 28 at 11am. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Assurance United Methodist Church – Connections Campus, 9700 Mount-Holly-Huntersville Road, Huntersville, NC 28078 or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at www.jdrf.org (select Fundraising and then Memorial). James Funeral Home, of Huntersville, is serving the family and obituary lovingly written by the family.
