    Connie Knox Collins

    January 31, 1931 - September 20, 2021

Connie Knox Collins, 90, of Charlotte died peacefully at her home on September 20, 2021. She was born on January 31, 1931 in Mecklenburg County to the late Adrian and Connie Knox. Connie was a member of Tabernacle ARP Church and later King's Cross ARP Church, where she shared her talents playing the piano for worship services and cooking for crowds at fellowship dinners. She had a loving and generous spirit, always thinking of others and their needs. She enjoyed welcoming family and friends into her home. Her most loved place to go was Emerald Isle Beach, a vacation tradition in the family for more than 50 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Gorman Collins, one grandson, Christopher Collins, as well as three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her four children Rhonda Hunter (Robert) of Huntersville, Daryl Collins (Renee) of Lake Wylie, Allyson Matsick (Andy) of Charleston, and Laura Hunter (Gene) of Wesley Chapel; grandchildren Joseph, Edward, William (Caitlyn), Rachel (Matt), Philip (Erica), Rob, Carson, Sarah, Kate, Cason (Tim) and Chris; and great-grandchildren Dayna, Drew, Penny, Clementine, Marigold, Grayson, Hunter, Michael, Georgea, Zoe, Bennett, Brigman and Bowen. Her family was the light of her life, and she spread joy to everyone in it. Connie will be greatly missed by her many close friends as well, and by her devoted friend, Jim Brown. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, September 24 at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Cornelius, with a visitation from 2:00 to 3:00 pm prior. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to King's Cross ARP Church, 3936 Craig Avenue, Charlotte, NC, 28211, or Bethel Presbyterian Church, 19920 Bethel Church Road, Cornelius, NC, 28031. James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
