    Delois Taylor

    May 10, 1943 - December 22, 2020

    Delois Hines Taylor, 77 of Huntersville, formerly of Rocky Mount, died December 22, 2020 at her home. She was born on May 10, 1943 in Nash County to the late William and Josephine Hines. She attended Rawlins Elementary and Swiftcreek High School, both in Nash County. She attended Elizabeth City State University where she earned a B.A. degree in education. She retired from the State of NC School System after teaching in Nash County for 10 years. Ms. Taylor was passionate about teaching. She connected with children very well and was a mother-figure to so many students. At an early age she attended New Hope Baptist Church in Battleboro, NC. She was a member of the Men and Women Union Organization. She enjoyed visiting and talking with family members and friends. She was young at heart! Ms. Taylor never met a stranger. She leaves to cherish her memory a host of relatives that include her daughters, Andrea Taylor of Richmond, VA and Ajohna Hairston and husband Darrell of Huntersville; sisters, Kathleen Sirmans of Rocky Mount, Mozell Rossi (Lawrence Rossi, Sr.) of Raleigh and Sheila Morton (Steve Morton) of Rocky Mount, NC and grandchildren Andre Taylor, Richmond, VA; Caleb & Joshua Hairston, Huntersville, NC; And great-grand daughter, Amira Taylor, Winston Salem, NC; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her sister, Larrine Blair. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice in her name. A funeral service will be held Sunday, December 27 at James Funeral Home at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be 1-2 PM prior. The service at 2:00 PM will be live-streamed on the funeral home Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/JamesFuneralHome. She will be laid to rest at 1:00 PM Monday, December 28 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Cards and phone calls are welcomed at 6528 McIlwaine Road, Huntersville, NC. 28078.
