James F. Donaghy

October 19, 1946 - January 23, 2022

James Donaghy, 75, of Huntersville NC passed away Sunday January 23rd 2022. James was born October 19th 1946 in Brooklyn New York. He graduated from Long Beach High School (Long Beach, NY) where he was on both the football and track teams graduating in 1965. Following high school, he served in US Army where he enlisted in 1965 serving in Vietnam with the Military Police 89th Brigade with the 557th Company. After his military service he worked as a lineman for New York Telephone later Bell South in Florida and North Carolina, retiring after 36 years of service. Jim enjoyed staying active all of his life, working out, hiking with his dogs, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, reading about people, history, and events, being an active parishioner at St Mark’s Catholic Church, and most of all, he loved to tell stories about family and life. Mr. Donaghy is survived by his wife of 49 years, Christine, son Kevin and his wife Stephanie of Huntersville NC, son Glenn and his wife Kelly of Arden NC, and four grandchildren, Nolan, Norah, Colin, and Caralin. A funeral mass will be held 11 am Monday January 31, 2022 at St Marks Catholic Church in Huntersville NC. James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
