    James "Pete" Puckett

    August 21, 1946 - March 12, 2022

James Allen “Pete” Puckett of Denver, NC was born and raised in Charlotte. He passed away peacefully on the morning of March 12th after a long recovery from heart surgery. As the youngest son of Beaufy Esther McSwain Puckett and Charlie Oliver Puckett, Pete made an impression every time he entered a room. Pete is survived by his loving wife Sandra (Sandi) Moore Puckett, his children Denise Reidy-Puckett and Steve Martin, sister Roe Ann Hill and granddaughter Julia. Pete will also be missed and remembered by extended family members, colleagues and friends. Pete graduated from Harding high school and received his HVAC credentials from Central Piedmont College. After more than 50 years in the HVAC industry, he retired from Comfort Design in 2016. Larger than life, Pete’s personality included a sarcastic sense of humor, but paired with an uncompromising sense of fairness and generous spirit. Fondly remembered as, “one of the hardest working people I know” he also enjoyed playing poker, planting tomatoes, fishing with his brother George, gold panning, feeding squirrels and birds, watching old westerns and planning deep sea fishing trips at the outer banks and along the Carolina coasts. Pete was an avid animal lover - fostering dogs and supporting animal rescues in the community. A celebration of life will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, April 9th at James Funeral Home of Huntersville and will be followed by a reception for family and friends to visit while also honoring Pete’s memory. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pete’s honor can be mailed to two local charities that support families and children with food insecurity: The Corner Table’s Backpack Program, PO Box 1051, Newton, NC 28658 or East Lincoln Christian Ministry - Food Pantry, PO Box 421, Denver, NC 28037 (Memorial: Pete Puckett). James Funeral Home, of Huntersville, is serving the family and obituary lovingly written by the family.
