Jeanette Morrison

April 4, 1937 - April 3, 2022

Jeanette Torrens Morrison, age 84, passed away peacefully on the eve of her 85th birthday April 3rd, 2022 in Concord, NC. She was born April 4th, 1937 in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, to the late Robert C. Torrens and Theresa A. Elaine. She was also preceded in death by sisters Margaret (Peg) Calb, Sydney Steiner, Ruthann Buettner, and Sarah Dillon and survived by brothers Robert (Bob), James (Jim), Timothy (Tim), Jessie, Daniel (Dan). Jeanette loved to share her gift of sewing that grew as a full-time career most of her life. She sewed everything from one-of a kind costumes to beautiful curtains for luxury houses, one even being for the hit show HGTV Extreme Home Makeover. Her hands were rarely still. She also loved to travel and share her love of cooking, especially Japanese cuisine with all who “just dropped by” for a cup of coffee and ended up eating an amazing meal. For many years Jeanette volunteered in her community, and often donating to various charities and causes anonymously. Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” Jeanette is survived by her three sons, Wayne Rhoads, Richard Rhoads and Mark Rhoads and his wife Kim Keith Rhoads: also, by her 2 adapted nieces Stori Howard and Theresa Harn. She has 9 grandchildren: Rachael, Kirstin, Maggie, Justin, Chris, Julia, Owen, Hollis and Laurel and 11 great grandchildren. All of these she loved and touched deeply. Please join us celebrating her life Thursday, between 2-3pm at Asbury Methodist Church, 11724 Asbury Chapel Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Asbury UMC Huntersville to be used for the Brenda Hauk Memorial Food Pantry.
