John Evrard of Cornelius, North Carolina formally of Mt Sinai, New York, was welcomed into heaven on November 22, 2021. Born in Brooklyn New York on October 19, 1942. John was a retired New York City Police Officer, he looked back fondly upon those years. After his retirement from the NYPD he made a second career in medical finance, this afforded him the opportunity to become and adjunct professor at St. Johns University. John spent many years as a volunteer firefighter with the Mt. Sinai Volunteer Fire department. He was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and the NYPD 10-13 Club of Charlotte. He was a voracious reader and avid jigsaw and crossword puzzler. To his brides dismay the TV rarely left the Hallmark channel as his love of mysteries ran deep. He knew every word to every Scrooge movie and would recite them as if in the movie, he also enjoyed British comedies. John could be found singing his Irish music no matter what time of year. He taught all of his grandsons “No nay never” as soon as they could speak. John was meant to be the father of Daughters; he was a strong advocate for equality. He along with tootsie raised their daughters to be strong, independent women. They taught them about family, hard work and honor. If you knew John for one minute or 50 years his love for his sweetie was obvious. Falling in love in 1960 marrying in 1963, and still honeymooning in 2021. He was the loving husband of Mary “Tootsie” Evrard, (nee) O’Donohue. He was the fierce father of four daughters, Tracey and Florus Efstratiou, Kerry Evrard and Glenn Marsh, Kelly and Edward Frazier and Mary Evrard-Deutschman and Richard Deutschman.
