    John Gibson

    May 19, 1928 - February 6, 2022

    John Truett Gibson, 93, of Huntersville, NC passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022. He was born in Whitnel, NC on May 19,1928. John graduated from Siler City High School, Mars Hill College, and then Wake Forest College majoring in Law. After graduation, he worked as an insurance adjuster. In 1955, John and his wife, Gloria, started Autodex Publishing Company and retired in 2013. He was a member of First Baptist Church Huntersville where he served as Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He became aware of a need for a pianist at the Huntersville Oaks nursing home and served there as a volunteer for the Sunday school class. He was their most long-term volunteer (44 years at the time of Covid). He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Estelle Gibson; a sister, Elaine Potts, and brother, James Gibson. John is survived by his wife, Gloria, of 73 years; a brother, William Gibson (Barbara) of Houston and a sister Mary Jeanne Dumachel (Michael, deceased) of Largo, Florida. Children are David Gibson, deceased (Nancy of Spartanburg SC), Dayle Page (Frank) of Taylors SC, and Joan Randolph (Steve) of Gastonia NC. Their grandchildren are Melissa Strange (deceased), Laura Brammer (Ben), Allison Scott (Jon), and John Randolph (Kristie). The great grandchildren are Zachary and Seth Brammer; Truett and Monroe Scott; and Cole, Nate and Emily Randolph. There will be a private burial with the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators, P. O. 628200, Orlando, Florida 32862 or to the ministry of your choice. James Funeral Home, of Huntersville, is serving the family and obituary lovingly written by the family.
