Judy Smith

December 16, 1938 - January 21, 2022

Judy Jones Smith went to be with her savior on January 21, 2022. Judy was born in Lowell, NC on December 16 of 1938 to Calvin Boone and Kate Lowery Jones. She was the ninth of eleven children. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings (Thelma, Elma, George, Edna, Ethel, and Sarah). She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jerry Edward Smith, their daughter Gerri Ann Shaw and husband Clint, their granddaughter Judith Prestwood and husband Ruslan “Dave” and their great granddaughter McKinna. Her siblings Patti Murphy (Wayne), Margaret Parker (Roy), Nancy Johnson, Billy Jones. Special niece Lynn Dunn (John) and special brother-in-law Richard Smith (Nancy). So many cousins, nieces and nephews and in-laws. Judy was a member of Paw Creek Presbyterian church for 57 years where she fully participated in church family life. She had life membership in Presbyterian Women for her service. She was a scout leader, a member of the Carolina Clowns and held many jobs around the community. Staying busy was important because “idle hands are the devil's workshop”. She loved ironing, gardening, cleaning, decorating, and design . The things God placed around her gave her much joy, especially her family and friends. The celebration of a life well lived will be held Sunday, January 30 at 3:00 in the sanctuary of Paw Creek Presbyterian Church, 7400 Mount Holly Road, Charlotte, NC 28214.
