Marie Sailers

January 31, 1954 - April 20, 2022

Mrs. Marie Sailers, 68, of Huntersville, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday April 20, 2022 at Novant Medical Center Huntersville. Marie was a native of Charlotte, NC but had lived in Huntersville with her family for almost 35 years.  She was the oldest of three children. She spent her life attending church and caring for her friends and family.  In earlier years, she was a member of Gloryland Baptist Church, Northside Baptist, and Durham Memorial Baptist Church.  For the last 15 years, she had been attending Grace Covenant Church in Cornelius. She held several jobs throughout her life, however, she spent several years as a full-time homemaker caring for her children and nieces.  After they had reached an older age, she returned to work part time at Belk as a sales associate.  It kept her busy and fulfilled her need to serve others. Subsequently after seeing her son and daughter marry and start families, she became a fulltime “Grammy” dedicated to her grandchildren- caring for them after school, attending their activities, and planning special outings among the many many other little things she did daily to show her love for them.   Marie’s favorite activities included attending church, reading and cooking for her family.  She especially loved Holidays and always ensured that they were wonderful memories for her family.  She also loved the beach and traveling there to relax.  While it was a simple life to most, it was the one she cherished most.   Her grandchildren would like you to know that they enjoyed her pot roast and meatloaf immensely, loved Grammy’s sense of humor and craft time with her. Marie is preceded in death by her father, Bobby Rippy.  She is survived by her husband, Ron, of 49 years, their children; Tracy, Cheryl (Brandon), Adam (Natalie) all of Huntersville, NC, grandchildren, Dylan, Bria, and Savannah.  Additionally, she is survived by her mother Grace Dubose Rippy, brother Tony Rippy (Grace) and sister Cathy Gaston (Rick) and her many nieces and nephews and their children. The family would especially like you to know that she was a faithful servant of God and the most excellent- wife, mother, “Grammy”, daughter, sister, friend, etc.   Her funeral services will be held Monday, April 25 at Grace Covenant Church in Cornelius, NC.  The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30am with the service directly following.
