    Mary Moore

    December 25, 1925 - February 4, 2022

Mary Wiggins Benoy Moore, 96, of Charlotte passed away February 4, 2022, at Northlake House. She was born on December 25, 1925 in Wayne County to the late John and Barbara Wiggins. After graduation from Rolesville High School, she went to work for Seaboard Airline Railroad in Virginia as a Telegraph Operator. Here she met her first love, the late Charles M. Benoy. They were married April 17, 1944 and were together for 52 years. She lovingly raised three children. She attended Nursing School in Hamlet, NC and worked as a dental assistant. Mary was a loving Mother and Homemaker. She was a long time member of the Eastern Star. Mary and Charles enjoyed gardening and camping, whether at the Outer Banks, the mountains or anywhere in between. Mary married her second love, John H Moore on February 15, 1998. They enjoyed traveling to John's Naval reunions all over the country. Mary was an active member of the choir, Sunday school, circle 2 and hotdog days at Trinity United Methodist Church until her illness prevented her from going. Her love of music was a great joy for all of us and was shared with all of us by singing in the choir. She loved her flowers, singing, painting, crocheting, baking, reading, and visiting with all her children and grands. She was preceded in death by husbands John Moore and Charles Benoy, two children Terry Anne and Paula Marion and siblings Louise Hodges, Ida Crumpler, Vera Putnam, and Alvin Wiggins. Survivors include her son, Charles Benoy of Boiling Springs, SC; daughters, Cheryl Fox (husband Rev. Jimmy Fox) of Van Wyck, SC and Ginny Martin (husband Allen Martin) of Charlotte; five Grandchildren, Loyd Fox (Donna), Dane Benoy, Luke Benoy, Rhonda Johnson (Vann), Shae Gruger, and five Great Grandchildren, Abby Fox, Breyenna DeHaan, Lane Johnson, Adam Gruger and Reed Johnson. The family would like to thank both the staff of Northlake House and the team at Hospice & Palliative Care - Charlotte for their care. The joint funeral service for Mary and John will be held on Thursday, February 10, 3:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC with the interment following. There will be a one hour visitation in the family life center prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 PM. The service can be live streamed on the Trinity United Methodist Church Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/trinityumccharlotte. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Trinity United Methodist Church 6230 Beatties Ford Rd Charlotte NC 28216 James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
