    Mary Noyes

    December 7, 1942 - February 26, 2021

Mary Elena (Galantini) Noyes, 78, of Cornelius, NC died February 26, 2021 at Atrium-Main in Charlotte, NC surrounded by family. She was born on December 7, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Emilio and Viola Galantini. Survivors include her husband of 56 glorious years, John Blake Noyes; son, Thomas Noyes (Penny) of Davidson; daughter, Catherine Noyes Malicki of Concord; grandchildren including Hillary (Jeremy), Christopher, Elena, Emilia, John, Lauren (Patrick), and McKenna, as well as great-grandchildren Jeremy Jr., Chloe and Brooks; and siblings, Michael Galantini, John Galantini (Joan), and William Galantini (Peggy). Mary was raised in Queens Village, NY and graduated from Martin Van Buren High School. She then attended Hunter College to study business. She met her husband in New York during his time in the US Navy and married nine months later. After raising a family, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science at East Tennessee State University in 1985. Mary worked at her children’s school, Dobyns Bennett, as a favored substitute math teacher, and at EDS (GM) as a Computer Analyst. She volunteered at many organizations including Meals on Wheels and Christian Missions. Mary enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling, reading, shopping, playing bridge, crocheting, cleaning and was everyone’s first pick at Trivial Pursuit. She was smart and always curious to continue learning. Most of all, Mary loved her family. She showed love through her acts of service and gifts; regularly treating her family to home cooked Italian – especially eggplant parmesan and braciole. Spoiling her grandchildren with ice cream, candy, McDonalds, and small tokens of love was her full-time job and main source of happiness. Collectively, the grandkids all fondly remember sleepovers with "Nana" watching endless Disney shows and musicals. Amazingly, the last two years her entire family was all within 10 miles of her home. She loved fiercely and was fiercely loved, something she’s engrained in all who had the pleasure to know her. She leaves this world having made it a better place, and inspired others to do the same. While we mourn the loss of such an amazing woman, we cherish the time we were given and we are thankful she suffers no more. We will celebrate her life at a time when it is safer to gather. As a 35-year survivor of Scleroderma, we ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to the Scleroderma Foundation or the University of Michigan Scleroderma Cure Fund. If you have special memories or stories of Mary, please share as they are the greatest source of comfort. James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
