Michael Alberts

Michael “Mike” Alberts passed away peacefully at his home in Huntersville, NC, where he lived with his long-time love Lynn. He departed in the early morning hours of November 15, 2020. Mike was born on December 4, 1947 to Rita Schandall and Fred Alberts and is survived by his three brothers, three sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike served honorably in the United States Army from approximately 1966 to 1970, completing two tours of duty in VietNam and received numerous citations and commendations for his selfless service to his country. After returning from the military, he spent the majority of his life living in Westchester County, NY. Mike spent his life as a plumber achieving the title of master plumber. He obtained the very first plumbers Journeyman’s license ever issued by Westchester County in 2007, a program he envisioned, cultivated and brought to fruition. He would partner in two plumbing businesses over his 50 year career. He instructed at Westchester County BOCES, and began a program to teach plumbing, he also served as the President of the Westchester County Plumbing Board. Mike could see the Hudson River from his home and this is where he spent many hours of his time walking miles along its shore line watching and observing the history, landscape, wildlife and other beautiful sights of the river life. Mike became an avid patron of the N.Y. Botanical Gardens and the Bronx Zoo where he captured amazing photos of the gardens and animals as photography had become a longtime passion of his outside of work.
