    Richard W. Parker

    September 7, 1938 - July 9, 2020

Richard Wilton Parker, known to his friends as Buddy, went to be with the Lord on July 9, 2020 at the age of 81. Born on September 6, 1938 in Wise County, Virginia, he grew up in Mount Holly, graduated from West Mecklenburg High School in 1957 and then attended Belmont Abby College. Mr. Parker retired from R.H. Bouligny, Inc after 30+ years as a mechanical engineer. He also worked at LeeBoy Manufacturing for his best friend Pete Harvey, drafting mechanical machinery. Additionally, Mr. Parker was the proud co-owner of the Rockin’ K Gun Store for 10 years. His hobbies included spending time at his beach house on Oak Island, his camper at Lake Myers, and fishing and hunting. Those who knew him would describe him as detailed and stubborn, with a smart wit. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sandra Perkins Parker; children Brian Parker and wife Lisa, and Missy Parker and boyfriend Chris Pittman; grandchildren Courtney Pimentel and husband Chris, Emily Parker, Matt Lowrance, Allison Hager and husband Jason, and Nickie Mills; great grandchildren Abby Lowrance, Keith Lowrance, Noah Martin, Mackenzie Martin, Easton Hager, and Lacy McClaugherty. Mr. Parker was also looking forward to the arrival of Baby Pimentel in September. He was preceded in death by his father, James Wilton Parker, and his mother, Irene Oris Parker. Donations may be sent to Trinity UMC Food Pantry in memory of Mr. Parker. 6230 Beatties Ford Road. Charlotte, NC 28216. Funeral arrangements are being handled by James Funeral Home.
