Ron Munse was born in Chicago, Illinois to Erna and Robert Munse on January 28, 1948. At nine years old, he moved with his parents and siblings to Perrysburg, Ohio. Ron graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1966, where he played football, basketball, and golf. Ron then graduated from Adrian College in 1970. He held various elected class and club positions in both high school and college. He was a member for life of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Ron chose and was extremely proud to be a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. Career took Ron from being a Vice-President of The Golf Mart, Inc., to Director of Sales for Costain Coal Sales out of Rochester, Michigan, to Vice-President of Fuels & Transportation at Cogentrix, out of Charlotte, North Carolina. At Cogentrix he worked extensively on international affairs. Ron later joined and became Vice-President of James River Coal Sales out of Richmond, Virginia, then closed out his working career as Vice-President of Sales for Southeast Fuels, Inc. out of Greensboro North Carolina. While in the coal industry, Ron was a President of The North Carolina Coal Institute, and a proud recipient of ‘The Godwin Holmes Award.’ Ron’s proudest moments were the births of his three children: Michelle Luette Wands (Charles), Matthew Scott Munse (Ezinne), and Marcus Ronald Munse (Rita). The love of his life was clearly and by far his lovely wife Elizabeth Dawn Reid. Without her, Ron would not have been the caring and loving man that he was. It was with this marriage that Ron became whole. In marriage, Ron was treated to two additional daughters: Jennifer Dawn Berger (Bill) and Amy Elizabeth Wortham. These two brought additional joy to his heart. Blessed with eleven (11) wonderful grandchildren: Haley Cathey, Christopher Cathey, Jacob Cathey, Lauren Berger, Emily Berger, Lauren Jackson, Christian Berger, Tristan Wands, Contessa Wands, Easton Munse, and Nevaan Munse – Ron’s heart exploded with joy and real happiness. Ron was an avid golfer, and enjoyed tennis, basketball, running and virtually all other sports. But his love above all things was his wife Elizabeth Dawn, followed by his children Michelle, Matthew, Marcus, Jennifer and Amy and of course his eleven wonderful grandchildren.
