    Ronald Maraz

    January 17, 1939 - July 24, 2021

    Ronald N. Maraz, 82, of Huntersville, died on Saturday July 24 2021. He was born on January 17, 1939, in the Bronx, New York to the late Alexander and Josephine Maraz. He served in the US Air Force for 21 years, achieving the rank of Captain. He served in the medical field in the Air Force as a pharmacy technician and a hospital administrator. Ron also served as an Air Force recruiter bringing civilian doctors into the Air Force. He received a BA in business from UNO, a BA in Education from USF and a Master’s degree in Hospital Administration from Washington University. After retirement from the Air Force Ron began a second career as a teacher in Florida. He taught middle school and high school algebra and geometry for 15 years. Ron was a big sports fan and athlete. He coached and played volleyball and basketball for many years. Ron was an avid runner, tennis and baseball player,skier and bowler. Ron was a big fan of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Duke basketball. Ron is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cathy, a brother Wayne Marking of Atco New Jersey, children Thomas Maraz(Stacy) of Phoenix Arizona, Ronald L Maraz of Murieta CA, Suzanne Maraz of Desert Hot Springs CA and Michael Maraz (Alan) of La Quinta CA. He is also survived by 2 grandsons Sean(Cassie) and Ben Maraz and 1 great grandson Liam Maraz. A dynamic personality and good guy all around Ron will be missed by his family and friends. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2:00 PM at James Funeral Home with a reception following. Memorials may be made to Grace Covenant Church in Cornelius, NC. James Funeral Home, of Huntersville, is serving the family and obituary lovingly written by the family.
