    Agnes Auten White

    April 22, 1934 - March 13, 2022

Ruth Agnes Auten White of Charlotte passed away on March 13, 2022. Born on April 22, 1934, Agnes was the daughter of Herbert Waller Auten and Ruth Glenn Knox Auten. She lived in the Long Creek Community and graduated in the first class at North Mecklenburg High School. She earned a bookkeeping degree at the Women's College of the University of North Carolina in 1953, and worked for the Atlantic Oil Company upon her graduation. Agnes was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, William Walter "Bill" White. She is survived by her brother, Ted Auten, of Huntersville; daughters, Julie White Walker (Burke), of Athens, Georgia, and Linda White Craddock (Larry) of Charlotte; grandchildren Beau Patterson (Amy), Brooke Hensley (Adam), Brett Patterson (Jessie) and Robert Walker; great-grandchildren Brady Patterson, Abby Patterson, Hudson Hensley, and Poppy Hensley. Agnes and Bill lived for many years in the Long Creek community before moving to Cornelius in retirement. She devoted much time to Williams Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she worshipped for most of her life. They were faithful members of Bethel Presbyterian Church and Davidson College Presbyterian Church as well. Agnes resided at Sharon Towers for the last ten years. Agnes loved her family and her many friends. She loved playing cards and cheering for her beloved North Carolina Tarheels. She was a true homemaker, cooking and sewing for her family, welcoming all visitors with warmth, hospitality and her famous brownies. She never met a stranger, and made friends wherever she went. She enjoyed traveling with Bill after his retirement, but was happiest in her loving home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Charlotte Region. James Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will be having a private graveside service.
