My heart hurts over this so bad. Drake was one of the very very few people that took me under their wing and accepted me for me in high school. We had grown up together in Sunday school class as kids, but lost touch over the years when I moved out to Colorado. However, when I moved back, so much had changed in my life— but Drake remained one thing that hadn’t, and was constant, and for that reason very familiar and comforting. I moved back as a hardcore Colorado-turned hippie of sorts— southern accent watered down, Birkenstocks and socks, etc. Nothing about me was even remotely similar, but Drake welcomed me and accepted me with open arms. It was almost as if we were able to pick up right off from where we left— everything had changed, but nothing, at the same time. Drake was still his fun loving, hysterical self. I used to eat lunch in the bathroom stalls some days, and just cry over not fitting in. However, Drake always managed to make me laugh deep hard belly laughs on those days. Needless to say, he was a phenomenal person— and an even better companion.
My heart is absolutely breaking over this, and his family is in my prayers wholeheartedly.
Mental health MATTERS. This is something very near and dear to my heart, that hits really close to home. You literally never ever know what someone is going through, so we must be kind to everyone we cross paths with— period. You matter and have worth and value, no matter what your mind is telling you in that moment. 💔
