Michael Dougherty's Obituary
Michael James Dougherty, Jr., aged 56, passed away on May 10, 2025, in Huntersville, NC, after a brief battle with cancer. Born on June 29, 1968, in Long Beach, CA. Mike lived a life marked by faith, service, and love.
A proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Mike pursued a career as a software engineer in San Diego, CA, where he ran his own business. His deep commitment to his Christian faith led him to volunteer actively in his church and embark on a life-changing trip to Israel in 2011. Captivated by the Holy Land, he returned to Jerusalem, where he met his future wife, Stephanie. He served as a missionary at Machaseh in Jerusalem, a ministry reaching out to Holocaust Survivors, domestic abuse victims, etc. After Mike and Stephanie’s marriage, they moved to her native Germany, where they lived until 2019.
Returning to San Diego with their three daughters, Mike developed software for Christian organizations. In 2021, the family relocated to North Carolina, where they flourished. Mike’s passion for Jewish culture and traditions deepened his devotion to God, guiding his family to observe these traditions to better understand their faith.
In his final days, Mike was surrounded by loved ones, leaving this world enveloped in their fierce love. While we grieve, we rejoice that he now rests in the joy and peace of the Lord’s presence.
Mike is survived by his wife, Stephanie; daughters, Eliora, Abigail, and Tirzah; stepmother, Jo Anne Dougherty; sister, Kelly Dougherty; stepbrothers, Eric and Matt McCarty; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NASB)
