Our funeral home was honored with the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce 2021 Small Business of the Year award. I am so proud of our first class staff that cares for our community so well.
NFDA Pursuit of Excellence Award
This award is presented by the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) annually to firms that have demonstrated a commitment to raising the bar on funeral service excellence by adhering to strict ethical and professional standards and providing outstanding service to families and communities.
This award is given to less than 1% of the funeral homes in the United States.
To earn an NFDA Pursuit of Excellence Award, a funeral home must demonstrate proficiency in key areas of funeral service, including compliance with state and federal regulations; providing ongoing education and professional development opportunities for staff; offering outstanding programs and resources to bereaved families; maintaining an active level of involvement in the community; participating and actively serving in the funeral service profession; and promoting funeral home services through a variety of marketing, advertising and public relations programs. Participants are also required to adhere to a Pledge of Ethical Practices.

Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneur of the Year
We were very honored by the recognition from our own local Chamber of Commerce. Many considerations are made when selecting the recipients. Those include not only operating a successful and meaningful business in our community, but unique involvement and recognition outside of the business.
With James Funeral Home, factors beyond our funeral home and cemetery included being nationally recognized my the largest funeral association in the USA, the programs Sam both created and continue to teach online for the S.C. College of Funeral Service, as well as traveling internationally to speak on the subject of funerals.
