Ms. McCaslin and her husband were neighbors of mine back in the 70's and early 80's. They were among the first people in the neighborhood to welcome me to the Huntersville community as a 10th grader in 1974. It was a difficult transition for me because I continued to attend West Charlotte High School because of a court order mandating that I had to go there, rather than being able to go to North Mecklenburg High, which made making friends in the area more challenging. Ms. McCaslin (and her husband, too) was always very kind and went out of her way to speak to me, which is something I have always appreciated and remembered. My parents continued to visit her when she moved to the Laurels in Highland Creek, and the visits were always great. They would always mention that she asked about me, which revealed her excellent character and the great person she was.
