I worked alongside Elaine for several years; she was a caring nurse who was always being the patient advocate. Elaine was quick-witted and had an infectious smile. E had the gift of gab and when sharing her adventures, she had the ability to make you feel like you were there too. What I loved most about Elaine was her genuine heart and kind spirit.

“Life is not measured by the breaths you take, but, by the moments that take your breath away! Elaine has left my family with many breath taking moments. She was very patient, kind, understanding, encouraging and caring. She had a quick and warm smile. She was an optimist who saw the opportunity in every difficulty. She was always very impeccably dressed, walked with great dignity; and was indeed a woman of distinction. She was an exceptional critical care nurse and a caring human being. Despite people’s situations or circumstances, she treated everyone with dignity and respect. Elaine was a people person who loved children deeply. She frequently sent baked treats for my niece and nephew who lived with me. Quite often when I called my sister Karol, she and Elaine were always heading somewhere: to the mountains, Hornets games, winery, ferry ride……Elaine was always ready for an adventure. Elaine was not only Karol’s best friend for over 22years; she was a very loved, cherished and valued member of our family. Elaine leaves us with a lifetime of memories of a life well lived!
My dear sweet friend,
You have fought the good fight, you have won the race, you have kept the faith, well done good and faithful servant, well done! Rest peacefully! Gone but never ever forgotten! You will live on in our hearts and minds forever, always missed and always loved!

Elaine was a beautifully genuine and caring soul. Her upbeat and joyful attitude was infectious and spending time with her was most certainly never dull!
I was blessed to have met Elaine 12 years ago through a very close friend of hers, and she soon became a friend of mine. On my trips from New Zealand to Charlotte, Elaine was always in touch and present if she was in town.
Elaine's love of the arts, travel, good food and great wine was as inherent as was her ability to smile, laugh, and 'spin a good yarn' (tell a good story). I will miss those 'yarns' and that glint in her eye as she shared her experiences and memories. I will also miss the movies and the shopping trips she so dearly enjoyed.
Most of all though, I will miss you dear, sweet E - I still cannot believe you are no longer here with us, but I trust you are now with your dear Palmer again, both in the presence of Elohim.
I will leave you with lyrics sung by Barbra Streisand whom you loved:
So it's the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember
The way we were
The way we were
Rest peacefully E, until we meet again. Much love from New Zealand.
Ruth
Elaine and I met in 2005 while working side by side as staff RNs in a busy STL post anesthesia care unit. Always the observant nurse, Elaine cared so much about the welfare of her patients.
After Elaine relocated to sunny North Carolina, we stayed in touch and traveled together to Iceland, Anna Maria Island, New Orleans, Hawaii and Mexico…always an adventure with lots of laughter, great wine and food.
I will miss your phone calls E and our plans for another adventure together. Thank you for being my friend.
Love you E…until we meet again…Susie
