My Brother From Day 1. ~ Marvin Major
Mark was a student of mine when he was a junior in high school (Choctawhatchee). Always, smiling, upbeat, cocky at times - he made my teaching him fun! His love for football was obvious, and I was so happy for him when he received a full ride to Kentucky - he deserved that!! The world is a little less bright because of this tremendous loss. Mark, you will be missed by so many. Prayers and peace for Mark's family and friends.

Mark was a student of mine as a 10th grader in my English class at Choctaw High School in Ft. Walton Beach. He was a joy to have in class. He was on the varsity football team, which is not the case for all sophomores. It was great fun watching him play football each week. As he went on to his junior and senior years, he would still come by my class and visit with me. He invited me to his signing ceremony when he signed with the U of Kentucky.
We kept in touch off and on after he graduated. I knew that he had joined Elliott Racing. The spring of 2011 he contacted me because he drove the Target car to Ft. Walton Beach for an exhibition. He came by class at Choctaw and spoke to one of my classes. I had some football players who knew who he was and they were thrilled to get to meet him in person. He brought me a Target car hat and shirt.
Like a lot of big, athletic guys Mark could look intimidating, but once he smiled, you could tell he was a teddy bear. My heart is broken to hear of his passing. My condolences to his parents, his brother and his children. Rest In Peace, Mark. I am grateful I was your teacher and your friend. I'll have those memories in my heart forever. -Linda Evanchyk "Ms. E" Go Big Green!
Mark was one of my all time favorite players and people. One of a kind. He loved football, having fun, and lifting weights. He Back Squatted more than 600 lbs, and was one of our hardest workers. He did everything I ever asked, and was someone myself, and all his teammates and coaches could always count on. No one was more respected and well liked. And no one got more out of their ability. This is so tough. Sometimes things just aren’t right. Proud to have coached him and had him touch my life.

Mark was a freshman my senior at UK. I loved playing football with this guy for so many reasons. He was one of those Florida boys that always showed up to play hard, never intimidated and even as a Freshman could make his presence felt! He was also a funny guy. Always joking! What I remember most about Mark, is an almost fight we had at CATS. I had just gotten my first job at Wells Fargo Bank, after being cut from Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and I shaved off my braided hair and cut off my mustache. I remember Mark say, "Who the hell is this George, you look like Carlton from the Fresh Prince of Bellaire!" Of course, it upset me and I was ready to fight! And, Mark kept saying, "Don't get madd at me George cause you look like Carlton...it's not my fault you look like Carlton, from the Fresh Prince of Bellaire!" Two years later, I ran into Mark at Nutter and we laughed and laughed about that day. All I could say is, Dude, I wanted to kick your ass! Of course, he said, I know G, I know!! Damn, this brother will be missed. RIP Mark Jacobs. With Love & Respect!
I grew upo with Mark back in our Shalimar days. From playing football all the way through High School to little league baseball. Mark was my dude. Mark was there for me at time when I needed him the most growing up. Whether it was ride to school or practice or running to get subs at Giff's before a game. He was always willing. When we graduated, Mark went to Kentucky and I went to West Alabama. Funny story, I remember being back at home during break with my grandma. She was in the kitchen cooking and I heard her scream. I asked what was wrong and she said there was this huge white guy in a big pickup truck adn she wasn't going to let him in and had asked me what did I do to someone. I looked out the window and saw a big white guy with long hair and a ball cap and some of the shortest shorts I've seen. I thought, I don't have clue who that is. I'm not nswering either. Now, when I last saw MArk he was 6'3" maybe 215. After further review, I noticed it was Mark, who came home after break. He was now about 295 and ready to dominate the SEC. We embraced and a great day talking and my grandma still won't answer the door. I wish we would have stayed in touch much better, but I will alwys cherish the time I had with him. My condolences to his family. I wish I could be ther. The Jacobs helped raised me in my youth and I am forever grateful. I pray for healing. Love you all!!!
