Mark Jacobs' Obituary
Mr. Mark Murphy Jacobs, 45, of Charlotte, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021.
Mark was a native of Shalimar, Florida and moved to North Carolina where he had a long-standing career in NASCAR. Mark’s athletic career started at a young age with football, baseball, and wrestling. Based on his hard work and dedication he received full scholarship to the University of Kentucky, fulfilling his lifelong dream to play in the SEC. After a successful football career Mark landed a job at Bill Elliott Racing as one of the first athlete to pit crew members in 2000. He enjoyed a successful career on pit road for nearly 15 years, making everyone laugh along the way with his larger than life personality. Outside of sports, Mark enjoyed fishing, boating, and spending time with his two children, Evan and Emily Jacobs. Always the proud father he coached both in football, baseball, and soccer in their early years. As they grew up, he enjoyed from the sidelines cheering them on, their biggest fan.
Mark is survived by his parents, John and Sylvia Jacobs and brother John Jacobs of Niceville, Florida. His two children, Evan and Emily Jacobs of Huntersville, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Sunday, August 22 at James Funeral Home of Huntersville. A visitation and celebration of life for NASCAR friends on family Tuesday, August 24th at 6:00pm at James Funeral Home of Huntersville.
