Merlin was the most remarkable man I ever met. He served aboard the USS Spangler DE-696 ahead of me, but I had the good fortune of meeting him and becoming friends at the ship’s reunions. His recollection of past events blew me away. He could tell a sea story in great detail like no one else. I’ll deeply miss my phone conversations with him.
I only met Merlin one time, when he came to Jamestown, RI, to visit the Carr Homestead. It was a pleasure to meet him and get to know him. Love you Merlin!!!! Pam Carr your distinct relative!!!!

We are so very sorry to hear the news about Merlin's passing. He was such a fun, kind and wonderful man. One of our favorite memories of Merlin was when he would sing with his wife Dee. There are two wonderful angels singing together again in Heaven's choir. Our love and sympathy to all his family and friends. Merlin will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Delores is my older step-sister. I remember meeting Merlin and as a young girl, I thought he was so handsome. He had a wonderful smile .
Rest in peace, gentle man. Merlin was a good man with a good sense of humor, a baritone voice, and a light hearted guitar. He was peppered throughout my lifetime in always joyous moments, and the world has passed a good man into the Kingdom of God.
