I knew Rodney when he and Ricky ran the service station on 1-15. I would stop by every chance I had just to say hello because the Russells just made you feel at home.
I remember Max Sims and me spending a lot of late nights with Rodney while he was building that beautiful Willys gasser---nothing but fond memories.
Rodney was a kind, easy going gentleman. I wish this country had more people like Rodney Russell.
Real McCoy! Rodney and I ran a lot of trips together and we always had fun out on the road. He was liked by many drivers and he always had that smile. I will miss him, but will never forget him. His memory will alway be with me and his former trucking sidekicks. It was a pleasure and honor to have known him.
I am so very sorry to hear of Mr. Russell's passing! He was one of my favorite customers at the Captain's Cap and I always looked forward to seeing him come in on Saturday nights. He always had a smile on his face and went out of his way to speak to each waitress to ask about their week. He loved sharing stories about his family and listened to mine in return. His kindness and generosity will long be remembered. I will most definitely miss him! Sending thoughts and prayers to all of you.....
We were saddened to learn of Rodney's passing but know he is with Jesus and that gives us great joy. Rodney visited us at Rock Springs Campmeeting every year and we enjoyed seeing him. He and Rudy reminisced about days long ago in the '50's and the fun they had at different dragstrips. Our condolences and prayers to the family.
