Rodney McCoy Russell's Obituary
Rodney McCoy Russell, 71, of Iron Station, NC died February 2, 2014 in Charlotte, NC. He was born in Charlotte, NC on October 1, 1942 to the late Herman and Eunice Hilton Russell. He served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired from Yellow Freight where he worked as a truck driver.
Survivors include his wife Bevelyn Poston Russell; son, Todd and wife Sheila of Iron Station; daughters, Melony Brown of Denver, NC; Ronda Carmichael and husband Irwin of Charlotte, Belinda Parker and husband Todd of Cornelius, Melinda Wilson and husband Rob of Mt. Holly; Tina Ervin & Partner Lisa of Bessemer City and 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Trent and brother Ricky.
Memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 11724 Asbury Chapel Rd., Huntersville, NC 28078.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 Thursday, February 6 at Asbury UMC with Rev. Jimmy Howard and Rev. Jim Howell officiating. Visitation will be 2-3:00 prior in the sanctuary. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
