Agnes Barnette's Obituary
Agnes Blythe Barnette, 92, of Huntersville, died September 28, 2012 at her home. She was born on September 2, 1920 in Mecklenburg County to the late James Franklin and Nannie Abernathy Blythe.
Agnes worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Piedmont National Gas and then Cross Motor Company. She most enjoyed helping her husband on the farm with the cows, gardening and spending time with her family.
She was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church, where she was an active member of the Wayland Sunday School Class and the Mary Torrence Circle. She was a member of the NC DAR Alexandriana Chapter.
Survivors include her sons, Richard McCoy Barnette and wife Virginia of Mt. Mourne, Alex Barnette and wife Lillian of Huntersville, MG Jim Barnette USAF (Ret.) and wife Mildred of Queenstown, MD; grandchildren, Trey Barnette (Julie), Michael Barnette (Tiffany), Kristi B. Geib (Ron), Scot Barnette (Wendy) and Julia B. Rogers (CPT Nick Rogers, US Army); and 11 great-grandchildren. Her husband Bertram Alexander Barnette, Sr. preceded her in death in September 1992.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM Sunday, September 30, 2012 at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Dr., Huntersville.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 Monday, October 1, 2012 at Hopewell Presbyterian Church with Rev. Alan Purtill, Rev. J.E. Wayland, Jr. and Rev. Mike Lineberger officiating. Burial will follow at Huntersville ARP Church.

The Barnettes would like to thank Presbyterian Hospice and the caregivers, Mamie, Brenda, Kelly, Jackie and Mary for their love and care which enabled Agnes to enjoy the last months of her life in her home.
