Aleen Vinson's Obituary
Aleen Smith Vinson, 91, of Cornelius died January 28, 2024 at the Abernathy Laurels in Newton, NC. She was born on July 17, 1932 in Camden, SC to the late Walter and Sallie Smith.
She is preceded in death by her husband Rev. Frank Vinson Sr. and her daughter, Dianne Godbey.
On February 9, 1949, she married the love of her life. They moved to Texas to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary for him to become a Minister. While there, she took courses in Religious Chalk Talk Drawings. She taught classes and traveled to churches to spread God's word.
In 1965 they were led to North Carolina to serve 37 years at The First Baptist Church of Davidson.
They organized numerous trips to their favorite place, The Holy Land. After retirement, they became members of Hickory Grove Baptist Church where she served as a greeter.
In addition to her services, she worked at General Time, Elox, and retired as an Accounting Manager in the Comptroller's Office at Davidson College in 1993.
She loved everyone. Her most important mission was to live a Christian life. She was a loving, giving and precious Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Our Sunshine.
Survivors include her son, George Vinson Jr.; daughters, Lynn Britt (Mike) of Cornelius, Brenda Elwood (Elbert) of Concord, Valerie Lemmond (Bill) of Indian Trail and Wendy Catalani (Paul) of Cornelius; sister, Catherine Hinson of Columbia, SC; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
