Alexander James Mickelson's Obituary
Mr. Alexander J. Mickelson, 50, of Huntersville, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026 after a lifelong battle with chronic health conditions stemming from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
Alex was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI. He and his family moved to the Charlotte area in 2019.
Alex lived his life, and hoped others would as well, according to his four pillars: Conviction, Devotion, Radiance, and Compassion. His conviction was unwavering. His devotion to his family and humanity was unmatchable. Radiance stood for being a source of hope and light and steadfast commitment to the greater good. Everything he did, he did from a stance of compassion. There are many more such “pillars” that clearly define him, but one stands above the rest: Resilience. He never, never gave up. His daily mantra was voiced often: Believe …Always and All Ways.
Despite health challenges, Alex maintained his sense of humor, and he found joy in his many passions and curiosity, including observing wildlife and spending time in nature, immersing himself in music, and spending time with his wife and daughter, who meant the world to him.
Mr. Mickelson is survived by his loving wife, soulmate, and best friend, Ann Mickelson. Their amazing, beautiful daughter, Anna, who shares so many of his traits; his father, Douglas Mickelson (Emmy Theisen); and many other much-loved family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Annette (Jorgensen) Mickelson; brother, Christopher Mickelson; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
