Alfred Godwin's Obituary
Alfred M. Godwin, 92, of Charlotte died August 3, 2021 at his home. He was born on February 27, 1929 in Nash County to the late Grey and Olivia Godwin. Mr. Godwin served in the Korean War, was in the Optimist Club, was a Freemason and served as treasurer of Pleasant Grove U.M.C. for more than a decade.
Survivors include his wife Polly Godwin; son, Marty Godwin of Charlotte; daughter, Elaine Ivie and of Emory, TX; brother Ricky of Rocky Mount; 5 grandchildren, Ryan Ivie, Justin Ivie, Grayson Godwin, Colby Godwin and Cooper Godwin; and 3 great-grandchildren, Jaycee, Addyson and Chance Ivie.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Friday, August 6 in the chapel of James Funeral Home. Visitation will follow.
