Allen George Depew,'s Obituary
A perfect husband and beloved father, Allen “Al” George Depew, Jr., 66, of Huntersville, North Carolina died December 15, 2017. He was born on June 4, 1951 in West Haven, CT to the late Allen and Jane Depew. He was a devoted soul mate and doting husband to his loving wife, Mona. He will always be remembered as a larger than life Dad and an incredibly loving Grandpa (Pop-Pop). Al was a kind-hearted, gentle giant who was loved dearly by his three sisters, brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. When he smiled, you could see the love in his eyes; he made everyone feel special. As a Boston College Alumnus, founder and Hall of Famer of the Old Gold Rugby Football Club in Boston, MA, he was a friend and teammate you could rely on. A Son of the American Revolution, Al was passionate about his family lineage and was a wealth of historical knowledge. He was the family historian and a master storyteller, forever keeping his listeners captivated. Al was a New England sports fanatic and, like his father, loved the Boston Red Sox and was forever a fan of the underdog. His business savvy (and list of contacts) was unrivaled and his network of friends and colleagues speaks to his impact on so many. He will forever be our rock, the cornerstone of our family, our love.
Al was an avid reader and lover of music. In the words of one of his favorite artists:

Al’s legacy lives on through his wife, Mona Depew; children, Jenny Depew and Adam Jordan, Ryan and Lauren Depew, AJ and Brooke Depew, and Sadie and Vincent Perrotta; siblings, Deborah and James Garrity, Maryjane and Scott Henry, and Raymond and the late Alana Gooley; grandchildren, William, Alex, Jackson and Taylor; dogs, Bowzer and Izzy.
As a son of a veteran of the Greatest Generation, Al always supported the armed forces. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Al’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project via www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of James Funeral Home at 2 PM Thursday, December 21 with Rev. Rick Felts officiating. Al was always bringing together family and friends. Please join us for a toast and reception in his honor at his favorite spot, Depew Landing, following the service.
