Alonzo Harrison's Obituary
Mr. Alonzo Harrison, Sr. passed away on Sunday December 6th at Novant Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“A Legacy of Love"
Alonzo Harrison, affectionately known as "Al", was born on March 20, 1935 in Huntsville, Texas to the late Napoleon Harrison and Ethel Mae Harrison-Spinner. His early years were spent growing up in Huntsville until the family decided to move to Houston, Texas. He was educated in the Huntsville and Houston School Districts. As a young man, he worked for Pacific Railroad during the early 50's. He left the Houston area in the late 50's and moved to Orange, New Jersey with his mother and older brother Wilbert. He met and united in holy matrimony to Mary Helen Hazely in 1959. Alonzo was a faithful member of Messiah Baptist Church in East Orange, New Jersey and Shiloh Baptist Church in Trenton, New Jersey. As a result of this union, four children were born in addition to three children from a previous marriage. In 1962, he started Harrison's Moving & Storage along with L & H Metal Trucking and Towing Company that he owned and operated for over 40 years. He was avid car collector and had various other business ventures in the New Jersey area. He loved travelling and took his family on many trips in and outside of the United States. In 2014, he moved to the Charlotte, North Carolina area and settled in with his wife to live with their eldest daughter Jade and Son-in-law Vernon. He was a devoted husband of nearly 58 years until Mary's passing in January of 2017 as well as a dedicated father to each of his children. He leaves a true legacy of love and memories for his family to cherish forever.
