Amelia Margaret Fleischhauer's Obituary
Amelia Margaret Fleischhauer, 60, of Huntersville, passed away on December 4, 2025. Born on January 1, 1965, in Catskill, NY, she was the beloved daughter of the late Charles and Abby Gold Barnard Fleischhauer.
Amelia lived her life with an open heart and an extraordinary spirit. She never met a stranger, believing wholeheartedly that every person was worthy of her time, her attention, and her vibrant conversation. Steadfast and loyal, she was known for her keen eye for detail, her generosity, and her unwavering willingness to help anyone in need. Her sense of humor, warmth, and genuine friendship touched countless lives. Her favorite place on earth was Pathfinder Baptist Church Camp in Cooperstown NY. She began going with her family, then as a camper and eventually became camp staff.
Amelia honorably served her country as a transportation specialist in the United States Army. A woman of remarkable discipline and determination, she was also a champion Dan 2 in Taekwondo. She earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from SUNY Albany, and went on to build a 25-year career with Brinks before retiring. Never one to sit still for long, she dedicated her time in retirement to serving others through her volunteer work at the Angels & Sparrows Food Pantry.
Amelia loved deeply and unconditionally—family, friends, and strangers alike. Her legacy is one of compassion, service, and joyful connection, and she will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Amelia is survived by her significant other, Jose Potter; brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Rebecca Wilburn; and sisters-in-heart, Tammy Hall and husband Michael, and Tina Dziekan and husband John.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, 11:00am, at James Funeral Home with Rev. Sheldon Davis officiating.
