My heart felt prayers to the family. Amy was a beautiful young lady and always made me laugh. Much love to you all !!!
Amy was one of my first Roommates, she invited me into her home the fall of 2016 without the slightest bit of hesitation. We spent quite a few nights around the bond fire in her backyard listening to music or watching television with the pets (her dogs, cat and my purrpaw Mila), we'd take turns cooking meals to taste test, going out and catching up about our days at work. I remember how Amy used to tell me that I was the only one who knew her blood sugar was low simply from looking at her or listening to her talk. There were quite a few nights where I'd bring her a glass of orange or apple juice, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or simply so.ething that would raise her blood sugar back to normal like a candy bar. The night I moved in Amy made it clear that I could have a pet had I wanted to adopt one. She knew that hadn't really had anyone in North Carolina when I moved there. The next day she even accompanied to the animal shelter in Charlotte where I adopted my purrpaw Mila, I remember how she carried her to my car after the adoption was final and pet and held her the entire ride back to her house.
When I read about Amy's passing, my heart broke for her family and friends. I'd only knew Amy a few years and lived with her for one, bit she truly had a trendmous heart and a one of a kind sense of humor.
Sincerest condolences to all of the Long family for their loss, Amy was an amazing person and a great roommate and friend.
May she rest in peace.

The last long conversation I was able to have with Amy a few years ago found us circling back many times to the ideals expressed in this obituary: of putting others first, of caregiving, and making sure everyone is included. Those moments benefitted me and I remember thinking then that she was wise beyond years to have these gentle thoughts. Harriet Kidd McKenzie
