Angela Petr's Obituary
Angela J. Petr, Charlotte, NC, (Highland Creek,) aged 50, passed to her eternal home on January 4, 2018. She is survived by her loving family: husband, Paul, daughters, Anna (15) and twins, Abigail & Hope (12), her sister, Charity (Caleb) Sevian of Boulder, CO, her parents, Gene and Dee Dee Emmons of Longmont, CO, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Angela grew up in Park Lake in Boulder and attended Douglas, Platt and Fairview schools and to this day celebrates friendship and memories from these wonderful years. Whether it be Skip-Its, horseback riding, skiing, running track or singing at Fairview, she lived fully, with remarkable energy and passion. And of course, all who knew her will remember her love of fun and her infamously contagious laughter.
She married Paul Petr in 1996. As they started and grew their family, Angela continued to share her love, energy and laughter in her work and community, including as the Executive Director of a Big Brothers/Big Sisters chapter, director of resident camps for the Y, and more recently, as a cross country coach. None of her other efforts, though, compare to the love and energy she devoted to her three lovely girls. They are blessed and will miss her extraordinary presence in their lives.
Diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in September, 2016, she fought strongly and bravely. She and all of her family were and continue to be overwhelmed by the generous support of dear friends. They have been a testimony and tribute to her contributions to their lives.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:30 pm, Tuesday, January 9, at StoneBridge Community Church, 3700 Prosperity Church Road, Charlotte, NC 28269.
