Anita Smith's Obituary
Anita Sluder Smith, 59 of Gold Hill, NC was called home to be with our Lord on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Atrium Northeast. Anita was born July 11, 1965 in Greenville, SC to Doris and Donald Sluder. Anita was a beloved wife, precious mother, and devout Nana. She was a beacon of love, wisdom, and kindness to all who knew her.
Anita was a dedicated homemaker to her husband and two daughters. Later in life she became an amazing caregiver to her brother. An international and domestic traveler, she made it a point to live life to the fullest. Her infectious smile, twinkling eyes, and contagious laugh made her unforgettable to everyone she met. To know her was to love her.
Anita is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Stewart Smith of Gold Hill. Her beloved daughters, Timberly Davis (Michael) of Gold Hill and Ashley Manzano (Jose) of Charlotte. Her siblings Sandra Garnes (Gary) of Fingerville, SC and her cherished brother Michael R. Sluder of Gold Hill, her father-in-law Stanley W. Smith of Gold Hill, as well as cousins and bonus daughters. Anita is also survived by her most treasured gifts, her grandchildren Valerie Manzano, Cole Carver, Luca Manzano, and Samantha Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents Doris Chastain Sluder and Donald Sluder, her mother-in-law Linda P. Smith, and many aunts and uncles.
The family would like to thank the staff at DaVita of Kannapolis, especially Ms. Rebecca, Ms. Roxanne, Anna, and Eddie for their compassionate care. In addition, the family would like to thank Mrs. Jill Earnhardt and Mrs. April Starnes of Centerwell Home Health for their devotion and care.
Anita's celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 1st at James Funeral Home in Huntersville. Visitation will be from 1pm-2pm with the celebration following in the chapel at 2pm. Graveside service will follow immediately at Cabarrus Funeral Cremation & Cemetery located at 3892 NC-73 E, Concord, NC 28025. The family will receive friends at the residence of Anita located in Gold Hill, NC following the graveside service.
