Ann Harper Dixon, of Concord, NC, and formerly of South Salem, NY, died peacefully on April 24th at the age of 74. Born in Indianapolis, the oldest of four daughters of Robert Harper, the bass trombone player for the Philadelphia Orchestra from 1945-1981, and Alice Rayburn Harper. A graduate of Upper Darby Sr. High School, PA. Ann attended Kutztown State University and graduated with a degree in Education. She served as a Deacon at the South Salem Presbyterian Church and volunteered with many other local organizations including Lewisboro Elementary School, Katonah Food Pantry and Mooresville Soup Kitchen. Ann loved being active and was an inveterate walker. She and Bob enjoyed gardening together, visiting with their grandchildren, and rooting for the Duke Blue Devils. After moving to the Charlotte area in 2007, she became involved in many church activities. A truly gifted and talented artist, Ann explored many mediums and studied art throughout her life. A keen observer, she had a unique gift of capturing moments in time through her artwork. At the time of her death, she was a resident at Taylor Glen CCRC in Concord, NC, and an active member of Huntersville Presbyterian Church.
