Ann Matthews' Obituary
Elizabeth Ann Matthews, 79 of Mount Holly NC passed thru her earthly life on July 3, 2014 at Peak Resources Gastonia. She was born on August 19, 1934 in Charlotte NC. She is preceded in death by her parents William H. and Ruby Gallant, and her husband William Brown Matthews.
Survivors include her sons, David and wife Patricia of Lake Norman; Robert and wife Lori of Valdese NC; sister Clara McDonald and husband Wilson of Gastonia NC; grandchildren Kristin, Andrew, Austin, Kody and Lilly and great-grandchildren Hunter and Matthew.
Ann was a 1953 graduate of Harding High School in Charlotte and a 1956 graduate of Georgia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, Atlanta, Georgia. She was a Registered Nurse and worked in the medical field for more than 30 years. She was extremely proud of the years she was employed by Duke Power Company. As the construction nurse at McGuire Nuclear Station from 1972 to 1981, she was affectionately known as “Ms Ann”
She was a member at Park Wood Baptist Church in Gastonia NC where she participated in Sunday school classes, Bible studies, and various other activities.
The family would like to thank all of the staff on the 400 hall at Peak Resources Gastonia, who provided exceptional care just as Ann had done for others her entire career.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to any Gaston County organization that provides care for the elderly.
A private burial service was held at Hills Chapel Methodist Church in Lowesville NC, with Reverend David Bel Isle officiating.
