Anna Gillooly's Obituary
Anne “Anna” Gonsalves Gillooly, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, 90 years old, of Cornelius died January 31, 2014 at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House. She was born on April 20, 1923 in Middlesex County, MA to the late John and Matilda Gonsalves, who emigrated from Portugal to Woburn, MA. Anna was 1 of 12 children.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles F. Gillooly.
Anna grew up and raised her family in Woburn, MA. In 1989, she moved to N.C. to be with her daughter and grand children. For the last 15 years, she has been “Nannie” to her grand children as well as their friends. Anna never met a stranger, but her number 1 priority was always her family. She will be sorely missed.
Survivors include her son Chaz of Scottsdale, AZ; daughters, Lynne of Cornelius and Jacqueline Sporrong and husband Michael of Redlands, CA. She had 3 surviving siblings in Woburn, MA; Oliver, Margaret and Agnes; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 33 nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Levine and Dickson Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 Saturday, February 22, 2014 in the chapel of James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078. Visitation will follow at her daughter, Lynn’s home.
