Anne B. Martin's Obituary
Anne Blackwell Martin, 96, of Denver, NC passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at her residence. Anne was born on December 19, 1928 in Bishopville, SC to the late Byrum James Blackwell and Annie Lois McCaskill. She was a graduate of Bishopville High School and Columbia College.
Anne taught school after college. She married Thomas W. Martin in 1958 and moved to Myrtle Beach where she was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing bridge, cooking, gardening and was very active in her children’s activities. She and Tommy moved to Cornelius, NC to be closer to their grandchildren. She loved spending time with them and watching them grow up.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years Thomas Martin, her brother Byrum James Blackwell, and her sister Jane Oliver.
Survivors include her children, Thomas Wayne Martin Jr. (Chip) and his wife Ana of Tampa, FL, Lois Anne Johnson and her husband Burt of Denver, NC, and Jane Marie Dupree and her husband David of Cornelius, NC. Her grandchildren are Matthew and Gabriel Martin, Tyler and Parker Johnson, Banks, Carmen and Britton Dupree.
A private family service will be held at James Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VIA Health Partners, Hospice and Palliative Care Lincoln County, https://www.viagiving.org/honor-someone-special who provided hospice care to Anne.
