Annette McManus' Obituary
Annette Keith McManus, 85, of Mooresville, NC, was welcomed home into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, April 13, 2024. She was born January 18, 1939, a daughter of the late Harold and Virginia Fite Keith of Huntersville, the second-born of seven children. In addition to her parents, Annette was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson L McManus, stepson, Charles McManus, and her dear sister-in-law and friend, Judy Keith.
Annette was a faithful and lifelong member of Asbury United Methodist Church, (now Asbury Chapel) in Huntersville, NC. She graduated from North Mecklenburg High School in 1957 and began her first job at Howren Music Company in Charlotte, NC, where she rose to the position of office manager and continued working there for a total of 49 years before retiring in 2006.
She was previously married to Harry Rea, with whom she shared two children, Beverly Fain (Ronnie) of Taylorsville and Donald Rea (Pam) of Huntersville. She later was remarried to Jack McManus of Rock Hill, SC, who also had two children from a previous marriage, Jon "Buddy" McManus (Deborah) of Charlotte and Charles McManus (deceased) of Indian Land, SC.
After living on the south side of Charlotte for a few years, Annette and Jack moved to Lake Norman where they lived together for 37 years until Jack passed away there in 2018 after 40 years of marriage. Annette continued to live in their home on Lake Norman until her death and was widely known and loved by her neighbors and friends. Jack had lovingly nicknamed Annette "the Chief" and the name stuck with many of their neighbors and family and friends, who continued to fondly refer to her as the Chief for many years.
Annette loved her family more than anything in the world and enjoyed all of the many annual family vacations to Ocean Isle Beach with her parents and brothers and sisters, and with her children and grandchildren and all of the extended family. She also enjoyed time spent with all of her family at our annual family barbecues, and of course all of the many, many occasions spent together for holidays and shared meals and laughter.
Annette was a wonderful, loving, nurturing, encouraging mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to her children, grandchildren, siblings, and many nieces and nephews. Annette genuinely loved and trusted in Jesus, and she genuinely loved all of her family and her many friends who mourn her passing today. But we who love her also rejoice in the knowledge of the Truth that she has entered into Eternal Life by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ who loved her and gave Himself for her so that she may be with Him forever and never truly die! This is our Blessed Hope and so, as the scripture says, we will "comfort one another with these words" until the Day we are all reunited with her on that Bright Morning and
embrace her once again in the presence of the Lord.
Annette is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly Rea and Ronnie Fain; son and daughter-in-law, Donald Rea and Pamela; stepson and daughter-in-law, Jon "Buddy" McManus and Deborah; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Richard "Dick" McGough; brother, Tommy Keith; brother and sister-in-law, Lindsey and Libby Keith; sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Jim Davis; sister and brother-in-law, Trudy and Johnny Hulsey; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Reneé Keith; grandchildren, Ashley Fain Perrigan and husband Alex, Justin Fain, Rebecca Rea Tomes and husband Joshua; step grandchildren, Miriam McManus and Ben McManus; and many nieces and nephews.
