Annie Houser Nelson's Obituary
Annie Faye Houser Nelson, 89, of Huntersville, died October 1, 2011 at The Havens. She was born on June 26, 1922 in Mecklenburg County to the late James Franklin Houser, Jr. and Alda Long Houser. She was a lifelong member of Gilead ARP Church and the community around it. Many knew her from her work at Reeves Brothers or Joe’s Fabric or from her work with the board of elections. Annie Faye was a loving, caring Christian woman, who acted as a mother to all that came into contact with her. She walked the talk. Annie Faye was faithful in visiting the sick and shut-ins of her church and community as well as opening their home to many sons and raised them as her own. She loved her whole family—children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Jackson Nelson. She is survived by her son C.J. Nelson and wife Laurie of Lincolnton; daughters, Jean Hager and husband Richard of Concord and Kitty Giese and husband Ken of Huntersville; grandchildren, Lynnette Butler (David), Tiffany Norkett, Lindsay Pack (Jason), Greg Giese & David Wagonner; great-grandchildren, Jessica Butler and Ryan Pack.
A funeral service will be held at 4:30 on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Gilead ARP Church with Rev. Robert Hunter officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gilead ARP Cemetery Fund, The Kairos Prison Ministry of NC, the American Heart Association, or Our Towns Habitat (PO Box 1088 Davidson NC 28036).
