Anthony "Tony" Brander's Obituary
Anthony “Tony” Brander, 87, of Davidson, NC passed away peacefully on July 3, 2022, surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with dementia.
Anthony was a native of South Amboy, NJ and moved to NC in recent years to be near his family. Tony was a long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in South Amboy, NJ. He served as a church usher for many years and was a member of the local BPO of Elks. He is a current member of St. Mark Catholic in Huntersville, NC. Tony was a kind, generous, and giving person who loved spending time with his family and friends. His wife, daughters, and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. The legacy of his spirit will live on through them. Anthony was proceeded in death by his mother, Charlotte Wieczorek; his step father, Frank Wieczorek; his brother, Joseph Brander; and his grandson, Jason Fletcher.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joan; their children, Donna Fletcher (Jack) of Orlando, FL, and Tracey Roper (Marc) of Davidson, NC; grandchildren, Eric Fletcher (Courtney) of Orlando, FL, Chelsea DeCamps (Jan) of Orlando, FL, Kaitlyn, Emerson and Kendall Roper of Davidson, NC; great grandson, Lucas DeCamps; brother, Frank Wieczorek (Gloria) of Bradley Beach, NJ ; sister in law, Cecilia Farrell (Paul) of Brick, NJ; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, July 9, from 1:00-2:00 PM at St. Mark Catholic Church in Huntersville. The funeral mass will be held after the visitation at 2:00 PM at the church with a reception immediately following at James Funeral Home. The inurnment will be held on Sunday, July 10, 10:00 AM at Northlake Memorial Gardens in Huntersville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Anthony’s favorite charity, St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or a charity of choice in his honor.
Anthony’s family would like to thank the staff at Olde Knox Commons who showed such great compassion and love during his final year of life. They would also like to acknowledge the Young at Heart Alzheimer’s Ministry at St Mark’s for all the kindness and support they have provided over the years.
